The Assumption Home & School Association is comprised of all parents of students enrolled in Assumption School. The H.S.A. distributes the "Weekly Word" via e-mail to keep you informed of school activities and upcoming events throughout the school year. The Board is comprised of members who chair various activities throughout the year. A prime function of the board is to coordinate essential fundraising events, including the Fall Benefit and Fashion Show. The officers of the H.S.A. are available to meet with parents upon request. ASSUMPTION HOME SCHOOL ASSOCIATION

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED….

Assumption Home School Association offers many ways to get involved in our school.  We are always in need of volunteers to lend a hand.  It’s a great way to meet other parents and the kids feel special when their parents are helping out at school.  Thanks for your time and support!

Mother of the Morning/Afternoon: Assumption parent volunteers staff the desk in the lobby.  Responsibilities include answering the phone, checking students in and out if arriving late or leaving early, checking in school visitors, delivering notes to teachers and other duties which help the main office staff.  Hours for these shifts are as follows:  morning 7:45am to 11:00am and afternoon 11:00am to 2:15pm.  Please contact Kathleen Fennelly (kfennelly@grahamcurtin.com) or Lesliel Ritardi (leslie.ritardi@verizon.net) to sign up for a time slot.

Christmas Store:  Christmas may come but once a year but our Christmas Store committee works year-round to make this day the most special day of the year at our school!  Weekly crafting days are held on most Wednesdays from September through November and then again from March through June.  There is absolutely no experience necessary for crafting – sometimes you’ll be painting simple wood pieces or even pulling price tags from items or wrapping gifts.  There is something for everyone and children are always welcome at daytime craftings – there are snacks for all and toys and videos for the kids.  The kids enjoy it and it is a fantastic way to spend a morning and meet other moms while lending a hand!  Please contact Andrea Clarke (tcnag@yahoo.com), Kelley Harris (kelleyharris@optonline.net)
or Sharon Romano (str1@optonline.net) to see how you can help!

Fashion Show:  Assumption’s Annual Fall Fundraiser, our Fashion Show, is the one big fundraiser of the year that supports the entire HSA and all school programs and capital improvements.  This event is a huge undertaking and a great way to get involved and help the school.  No matter where your strengths lie, you can find a place in a Fashion Show committee.  Please contact Alexandra Lloyd (wlloyd9718@aol.com) with questions or to get involved.

Hospitality:  Our Hospitality committee takes care of food and drinks for all of our events (Christmas store day, Enrichment, Teacher Appreciation) and also provides “Teacher Treats” on Monday mornings for the teachers.  Helping out with Hospitality is great for moms with young kids who can’t spend time at school but who can bake (or buy!) something and drop it off for a special event or on a Monday morning (teacher treats).  E-mail Petra Barone (prbarone@optonline.net) or Laura Davis (twolabfamily@verizon.net) to sign up!

Athletics:  A lot of students participate in and enjoy our many Athletic programs.  We are always in need of parent volunteers to coach or assist.  If you have a favorite sport that you’d like to lend a hand with, please let us know.  Even if your time is limited, we can use your help!  For specifics, please contact John O'Reilly (john.o'reilly@sanofi-aventis.com),  Carolyn Nienstedt (cnienstedt@mac.com),  or Lisa Yarosz  (yarosz4@verizon.net).

Enrichment:  Our Enrichment committee plans assemblies for the students throughout the year and finishes up with Enrichment Day at the end of the school year.  This is a really special day for the kids with a different theme each year.  The kids have a ball and learn some new things (but don’t tell them that J)!  Specific sub-committees are formed later in the year and information is sent home regarding how to get involved.  If you have ideas you’d like to share or questions, please contact Theresa Christie (theresa0130@aol.com), Debbie DeAngelis (oakpark@optonline.net), or Susan Locascio (swoozieq@optonline.net).
