GOOGLE CLASSROOM

Viewing your Child’s Google Classroom

All Parents with students in 2nd grade through 8th grade can access google classroom via their child’s student id. This student id was given to each child at the start of the school year.  This id will be theirs until they leave Assumption. The id is firstname_lastname@assumptionnj.org (while it looks like an email address, it is not an “active” email). Students were also given a password at the start of the school year (contact support@assumptionnj.org if your child does not know their password or for password resets). Once logged in, parents can view the activity (i.e., assignments, projects, etc.) for a specific classroom. Parents can also set up notifications for google classrooms. These notifications alert parents on a daily or weekly basis with activities posted to classroom.  Please note, that at the start of the new 2017-2018 school year, students in 5th through 8th grade, will have all their assignments posted in Google classroom.  Therefore, they will not be given a planner.
Below is a link on how to set-up notifications in google classroom (Parent Tip: You can also download classroom on any Andriod, iPhone or iPad).

5TH GRADE PARENTS:

ALL students who are 11 years old and entering 6th grade MUST have the Menactra (meningitis) and Tdap (tetanus, diptheria, acellular pertussis) vaccines.  If your child has already received these immunizations, great!  Please send a copy to the school nurse as soon as possible, but definitely before the start of the 2017-18 school year.

If your child has not already received these immunizations, please make an appointment now, to get it done promptly.  Your child must show documentation of these in order to enter 6th grade this fall.

Thank you for your cooperation and please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions.

GOOGLE CLASSROOM

During the 2016-2017 school year, students at Assumption School have been introduced and using Google Classroom in grades 2nd-8th.  This cloud-service is part of the Google Suites for Education.  Classroom is a web-based application designed to help teachers create a “virtual” classroom to post announcements, assignments, share resources and knowledge, as well as interact with students.

In addition to Google Classroom, students have also been using Google Applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Draw, and Drive) to complete assignments and projects and submit online.

Over the next few weeks, the Weekly Word will feature an inside look at Google Classroom and other technologies being used at Assumption School.  This week we would like to introduce you to Google Classroom with this short video: Introduction to Google Classroom:
