Learn to Ride a Bike Class (Ages 5-13)

Is your child ready to get rid of the training wheels? Has learning to ride a 2- wheeler been a struggle for your child? The answer is a free clinic run by Trans Options to be held in the Assumption School parking lot on Wednesday, October 11th from 3 – 5 pm!

This outdoor hands-on class teaches the safe, easy and effective way to learn to ride on two wheels. Using this “balance first” method, parents help get their children rolling while the child does most of the work. Participants learn the basics of balancing, starting, stopping and steering a bike as well as proper helmet fit and adjustment.

To sign your child up, contact Kate Tully katiekooptully3@gmail.com. Once the class is formed more details will be provided about the session. A parent, guardian, care giver must be present at the class. Note that the class size is limited to 15 kids and enrollment will be first come first serve.

Light the Night

Assumption School’s Will Galligan has been chosen by the Leukemia Lymphoma Society to be the 2017 Honored Hero for the Morris Plains Light the Night Walk. The walk will be held at Greystone Central Park in Morris Plains, NJ on October 21st.  Every year the LLS chooses a survivor, this year Will Galligan and John Hyland (both AML Acute Myeloid Leukemia survivors) were selected. Please join Will’s team Will’n to Walk to support a cure for all blood cancers. It would be great to have the Assumption School Family support.  here is the link to join Will’s Team:

This is a fun family friendly night. Here is some information about the night:  The Light the Night Walk is a fundraising campaign benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s mission to cure blood cancer. The Night time walk is free to attend, family, stroller, monster beats dr dre earphones detox wheelchair and dog friendly, and is only 1.2 miles long. So, there is not training involved! Supporters, patients, survivors, and loved ones walking in memory all come together carrying illuminated lanterns to Light the Night and bring Light to the Darkness of Cancer. Join us in celebrating the advancements we have made in blood cancer research so far, as well as remembering those who have lost their battle to blood cancer. All ages are welcome to attend, we have a DJ, balloon artist, face painters, a play ground, gaming truck, food, dessert, and a laser light show!
