Anti-Cyber Bullying Assembly
On Friday, October 27, Assumption is proud to welcome Katie Schumacher of the Don’t Press Send Campaign to present the students with “An Education in Cyber Civics.” The Don’t Press Send Campaign is an educational program that provides strategies and guidelines to navigate this ever-changing technological world by promoting Kind and Careful Online Communication. There will be two separate presentations, one for grades 2-4 and another for grades 5-8. Each presentation is tailored to its audience’s age and technological awareness. To learn more about the Don’t Press Send Campaign, see the attached link to Katie’s TED Talk (we encourage all parents to watch): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mfIGGpBIcg8
Also, that Friday, 10/27, will be a $1 dress down day. We are asking kids to wear light blue in support of Mallory’s Army, a local organization started in memory of Rockaway 12-year old, Mallory Grossman, who took her own life this past summer as a result of online bullying. All proceeds from the dress down day will go to Mallory’s Army www.MallorysArmy.org.
