The 2017 Christmas Store Committee wishes to thank all the volunteers who assisted in making Assumption’s Christmas Store such a magical day!  Many thanks goes out to all the crafters, gift wrappers, those who donated to the raffle baskets, those who donated crafts to sell at the store, those who helped shop, the set-up volunteers, the day-of volunteers, the clean-up crew, and to Hospitality for providing breakfast and lunch for all of our volunteers.  We would also like to thank the 8th grade wrapping team, as well as the 7th grade class who shopped with the younger children. We truly appreciate the time and talents of each and every volunteer!

May you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Michelle Carr, Linda Chang and Christine Sidhu

Talent Show Auditions will be held on Wednesday, December 20th from 12-2 in the school gym for grades 3-8. Anyone interested in trying out should return the permission form to Mrs. Endres no later than 12/13.  The Talent Show will be held on Wednesday, January 31st at Noon.

Don’t forget to buy your 2018 Assumption Yearbook for $30.  You can log onto jostensyearbook.com to order on line or send an envelope with the money or a check made out to Assumption HSA to the attention of Hope Zenker/yearbook. We sold out last year so don’t delay in ordering your new yearbook!

Join us for one more exciting class – Yuletide Treats. This is a hands on instruction in the Assumption kitchen for students from grades 3rd – 8th grade. Mrs. Sopira and Mrs. Guglielmo will share their culinary skills with you. Each experience will focus on a particular food group and end in tasting the fruits of our labor!  Please see the Flyer for additional information.

Knowledge is Power: Improving Communication Skills with our Children and Learning about the Dangers of Vaping and Alcohol Use in Adolescents

Just as the older generation had to be educated about the dangers of smoking cigarettes, we are now in a place and time where our young people are faced with the challenges of VAPING. A new generation of nicotine addiction using e-cigarettes. We know that e-cigarettes are a better alternative then smoking but risks are present, especially to our youth. Come learn and talk about these risks.

Parents, please join us at Assumption on December 19, 2017 at 8:30 am to hear Donna O’Connor LCSW, LCADC and Lee Ann O’Leary LCSW give a talk entitled Knowledge is Power.

Donna and Lee Ann are Master Level clinical therapists in the field of Addiction and Mental Health with over 15 years of experience. They will help us; as parents; to improve our communication with our children and our knowledge of the dangers of drug, alcohol and Vaping use in adolescents.

Donna and Lee Ann will then speak to our 6th-8th grade students at 9:30 AM about the dangers of vaping and alcohol usage.
