Weekly Word – February 25, 2018

Wednesday, February 28 – Bus and book forms due for Grades K-7

Thursday, March 1 – Pep Rally 1 o’clock in the gym

Monday, March 5 – Friday, March 9 – Iowa Tests for grades 2-8

On February 21, 2018 10 girls in the 6-8th grades successfully competed in a forensic competition at Mount Saint Mary’s Academy as we brought home seven trophies.  The next competition will take place on May 2 at 3:00 at Holy Spirit School in Pequannock.

This competition will be a declamation which will require each student to fully memorize a 3-7 minute speech that was given by someone in a public forum.  There will be two teams entered in this competition: 5 varsity members and 5 JV members with one or two alternates per team.  If there is a high interest in trying out for this competition, an internal competition may be conducted in order to pick the team members.

Please email Jean Jabbour by March 5th at Jeanjabbour@verizon.net if interested.

We are offering a program for 3rd to 8th grade girls that incorporates running with self-esteem, with the goal that each girl complete a 5K.  We will meet Tuesday and Thursday afternoons after school until 3:45.  The program starts Tuesday, April 10th and ends Tuesday, May 22nd.  The cost will be $25 a girl.  Please contact Noelie Hillebrecht at nhillebrecht@assumptionnj.org for registration information and see flyer for additional details. Come spend Monday after-school at Assumption creating one-of-a-kind objects working in clay. Students will learn to use simple tools and traditional hand-building techniques as well as ways to impress texture into the clay. They will also strengthen their color and design skills as we glaze our pieces.

Please return this form along with your check $78, for Peggy Davo, to the main office by Thursday, March 1st. All supplies are included and firing will be done in my studio. A portion of your check goes to the school. Thanks!

Don’t forget to buy your 2018 Assumption Yearbook for $30.  You can log onto jostensyearbook.com to order on line or send an envelope with the money or a check made out to Assumption HSA to the attention of Hope Zenker/yearbook. We sold out last year so don’t delay in ordering your new yearbook!
