Weekly Word – May 13, 2018

A baby asked God, “They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?”  God said, “Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.”  The baby asked, “Who will protect me?”  God said, “Your angel will defend you even if it means risking her life.  “The baby said, “God, please tell me my angel’s name”.  God said, “you will simply call her Mommy“.

Happy Mother’s Day to all our wonderful moms.  I hope you enjoy your special day.  Please know you are appreciated by all of us at school.

A great, big Circus thank you to Emily Harding, Stephanie Vieira, Kate Tully and all their committees for another great Enrichment Day – one of the happiest days here at Assumption.

Please remember to check the online bulletin on our school website for important daily announcements and updates.

Clearly Assumption truly is the Greatest School on Earth!!

On behalf of the Enrichment Committee, we would like to thank our entire school community for helping to make Enrichment Day 2018 a wonderful success! First, we would like to thank our amazing Committee Volunteers – you all worked late hours, early mornings and made the circus theme come to life throughout the school in so many ways. Your dedication and creativity is incredible and we are beyond grateful. We would also like to thank all of the parent/grandparent volunteers and Scavenger Hunt volunteers that participated on Friday. We know how busy people are and we are so appreciative of your time, energy and excitement. All of our volunteers helped make the day run smoothly, kept the kids safe and happy and, most importantly, made it fun! We would also like to thank the Hospitality Committee for the beautiful spread of delicious food that they provided throughout the day.

We would like to thank the teachers and staff for your support, flexibility, patience and enthusiasm. The students look up to you and follow your lead, so your excitement really makes a difference. A special thanks to the dunk tank volunteers – you have truly gone above and beyond in what you will do to make these kids smile and boy did they smile!

Finally, to Sister Merris – you are the Ringmaster of this Circus and your leadership, your support and the way you embraced the spirit of the day is an inspiration. We thank you for everything you did for us and the students.

We hope you all enjoyed the experience as much as we did…thank you for making Under the Assumption Big Top a roaring success!

Thanks to all of your support, a wish list of books and classroom needs was able to be fulfilled for teachers. Next year there will be new rugs for reading time, books for literature-based classroom reading, new resources for teachers to use, new books in the library and classrooms, and more! It couldn’t have happened without your support – thank you!

Attention Assumption parents and/or staff: Ride & Reflect has created a new code to use a single free class. Please use code “SLFREE” to REGISTER online for a free class (See attached flyer). Popular classes fill quickly and we are a big group, so register to ensure your spot! Check the link to the Morristown Schedule is below. You may need to use the filters to select the Morristown location.

If you are new to spin or yoga you may want to make the most of your free class by sampling a combo class – I highly recommend their Signature Ride & Reflect 30/30 class as a great way to start (30 minutes of spin & 30 minutes of warm yoga).

If you want to meet up with other Assumption parents, here are a couple of suggested dates/times:

Tue.  5/15 – 9:30am – Ride & Reflect with Ali

Tue.  5/15 – 6:30 pm – Spin with Thomas

Wed. 5/16 – 12 Noon – HIIT with Susan

If these dates/times do not work, the free pass code is good for any class.

Hope to see you there!

PreK3 – 6th graders:
Don’t blink and miss the baby blue letter that came in the backpacks last week for a fabulous and easy way to make a small donation with a big impact.   If you think it is busy now just wait until the frenzy of September.  It is a perfect time and not too late to be part of what we hope is a new tradition. Make a donation to the planned grade level gift for your grade to our Fashion Show Gift Auction and Silent Auction today. This donation ($10 – $20) is meant to capture a donation from each student to create a fun package listed from the kids in the grade. Send your cash or check donation (payable to Assumption HSA) in the envelope attached to your letter with your students name and grade.  Thank you.

Silent Auction Spotlight: Girls’ Break at Bradley Beach with Your Besties!
A house at Bradley Beach and a gift certificate to a fabulous Asbury Park restaurant set the scene for girlfriends looking to recharge and reconnect. The Silent Auction Committee has the beach house – thank you to the Ottaiano family – all we need is the meal. Can you donate a gift certificate to your favorite Jersey Shore hotspot? Or perhaps you can give a monetary donation toward this fun-filled girls’ holiday?

Contact a member of the Silent Auction Committee for additional details or questions.  You can send your monetary donation (checks payable to Assumption HSA) with a completed Donation Form (add link) to school to the attention of “FS Silent Auction Committee” via your child’s backpack.
