DISMISSAL UPDATE

Now that we have a week of the new dismissal process under our belts we have some thoughts and requests:
  • Thank you for continuing to enter the front driveway from the Miller Road side in order to take a right turn into the Assumption circle.
  • Please be mindful that jaywalking is illegal.  The police officers who have been observing our dismissal asked that we obey the laws and cross the street at the crosswalk with the crossing guard.
  • The walkers will be dismissed as the buses are being boarded between 2:12-2:15.  All walkers must walk towards Miller Road and if they must cross the street, they need to use the crossing guard.
  • Please continue to pull all the way to the end of the circle when you pull in to pick up your child in order to allow cars to pull in behind your car.
  • The whole dismissal process has been taking under 15 minutes from start (2:20) to finish (2:35).  Please don’t feel the need to get to school any earlier than 2:15 to wait on the car line.
Once again, thank you all for your patience and cooperation in this adjustment to our dismissal process.

HOLLY JOLLY CHRISTMAS STORE

Merry Christmas, Assumption! The magic of Christmas Store is just a few days away! This week, on Wednesday, December 5th, students will be able to shop for their family and friends during the day. We invite all parents to come and shop at 2:00 pm and take part in the amazing raffle packages to be drawn at 3:00 pm.

This past week, students in grades PreK3 through 5th grade should have received an information letter with a gift list and money bag. Students in 6th through 8th grade should have received the information letter only. Be sure to send your child in that day with a sturdy shopping bag clearly marked with their name and grade along with their gift list and money bag. Please follow the link to the information letter for your reference.
Many thanks to all the crafters, wrappers, and volunteers whose assistance helps make this a fantastic day for our children. We welcome all volunteers to come the day of and take part in the fun! If you would like to help, please contact Linda Chang at (aloc.chang@gmail.com).

Should you have any questions leading up to this heartwarming day, please contact, Michelle Carr (michelle.carr4@me.com), Linda Chang (aloc.chang@gmail.com), or Christine Sidhu (christine.sidhu@gmail.com).

CHRISTMAS TOY COLLECTION

Each year, Sr. Marybeth Lloyd of Villa Walsh in conjunction with John Corr Family Resources hosts a Christmas party for some of the most needy families of Newark who have been identified as in crisis.  During the party, children play games, make crafts, and meet Santa Claus while their parents are given the opportunity to “shop” for toys and clothes to put under the tree for their families.
4th Grade Girl Scout Troop 96296 will be collecting UNWRAPPED new and gently used toys in the school lobby from November 26th-December 7th to benefit this special event.  This is the perfect time to purge in time for Santa’s arrival with new toys!  Thanks in advance for making this a special Christmas for the children and families of Newark and for keeping them in your prayers.  Please contact Christine Dam (cdam@verizon.net) with any questions.

ASSUMPTION POWER TO THE PARENTS

The Assumption HSA is forming a parents’ forum to empower parents to have the tools to best address current concerns with our children and adolescents.  In 2019 we realize how difficult it is to be an effective parent in a world that is full of major risks and bombarded with stress.  These forums are open to any parents and caregivers who would like to problem solve and brainstorm with other concerned parents.
Please join us in the Assumption All Purpose Room for our first Assumption Power to the Parents forum on January 15, 2019 at
8:30 am.
If possible please RSVP to Jean Jabbour at Jeanjabbour@verizon.net.
