Weekly Word – January 20, 2019

ACTION ALERT –FROM THE NEW JERSEY CATHOLIC CONFERENCE

Governor Murphy will deliver his Budget Message to the Legislature on March 5, 2019.  We are asking for level funding in the Fiscal Year 2020 Budget in order to retain the current level of funds, including the $1,000 per pupil funding for nonpublic school transportation.  We would also like to secure the $150.00 per pupil for nonpublic school security which was provided in P.L. 2018, c. 168, which was signed by Governor Murphy on January 8, 2019.

For more information, please see the attached form.

AFTERNOON ART CLASS WINTER 2019

Grades 2 – 8
3 Classes: 2:15 – 4:00
Fee: $55.00 (includes all materials)
During the winter secession we will be exploring printmaking. The students will choose a theme for their print and then create a drawing. The drawing will be transferred on to a Styrofoam sheet that will be inked and printed. They will make several prints on different types of paper.
Because of the nature of the printing process, class size will be limited. Please complete the attached registration form and return it to the main office along with your check made payable to Diane Spetrino. A portion of the fee is donated to the school. Indicate first, second and third choice. This will help in scheduling. I will try to accommodate car pools and special requests so indicate them on your form. You will receive confirmation of your class choice.

ENRICHMENT DAY

Get your passport ready- we’re taking off! This year’s 2019 Enrichment Day theme is “Around the World-Assumption’s Amazing Race.”  We will explore all different parts of the world with new experiences and fun-filled interdisciplinary activities.  All students spend the day moving around the school to learn about our theme from different perspectives and points of view.  Parent volunteers are needed to plan and run activities for our children on Enrichment Day which will take place this year on May 10th.  Our first general meeting will be Friday, January 25th at 8:15 am in the Multi Purpose Room.

Please join us to find out more about this exciting day at school and to help brainstorm some activities for our children.  We can’t do it without you ! Feel free to contact a member of the Enrichment Committee with any ideas or questions.

FASHION SHOW

Calling all volunteers…..
Believe it or not, it’s time to form our Fashion Show Committees for the Fall 2019 Show! This event is the primary fundraiser to support improvements at our children’s school. Volunteering is a great opportunity to work with and get to know other parents. Last year, we had almost 100 volunteers working on various committees to make the show a reality! If you are interested in helping out with Assumption’s Fashion Show, please email AndreaBopp@verizon.net. No experience needed! Please complete the volunteer form if interested in volunteering.
Thank you in advance for your support of Assumption’s primary fundraiser!
