Monday April 8 – Eighth Grade brings in a “breakfast bag” for the Community Soup Kitchen- see link for details.

Please note that we are asking all parents to wait outside the building for pick up for after school activities.  The students will be brought to the door and dismissed directly to you.  Children who attend After School will be dismissed from the cafeteria in the back of the building.  If you are requesting homework when your child is absent and will not be picking it up before 3 please let us know and we will give it to After School in the cafeteria where you can get it.
Dismissal – It has come to our attention that cars are blocking the cross walk before dismissal on MacCulloch Avenue.  Please remember to wait in line on Miller Road if you are picking up your children.  Please do not cut in line from MacCulloch Avenue.
Please remember that you can leave items in the vestibule on the shelf for delivery or to pick up homework.

ASSUMPTION SPRING SPORTS 

Registration is open for Softball (girls grades 6th, 7th and 8th).

ASSUMPTION SCHOOL’S 2ND ANNUAL GOLF OPEN

REGISTER NOW! Assumption School’s 2nd Annual Golf Open will be Monday, May 20, at Morris County Golf Club in Morristown and registration is open! Register as an individual golfer, twosome, or foursome and, if you can’t make it for golf, ALL ARE WELCOME to register for the cocktail reception and raffle! KID CHEF – Scrumptious Sweets

This will be hands on instruction in the Assumption kitchen for students from grades 3 – 8th grade.  Mrs. Sopira and Mrs. Guglielmo will share their culinary skills and recipes with you. This session will Scrumptious Sweets with a focus on chocolate.   Not only will we create delectable treats, we will also end in the class in tasting the fruits of our labor!
Here are the particulars: Class is from 2:30 – 4:00 pm.
May 1, Wednesday – Cinco de Mayo Munchies – Not Your Typical Taco, Quesadillas, and Savory Sauces.
The cost is $40.00 per class.   Checks should be made out to S. Sopira or S. Guglielmo, or cash.(Checks are non-refundable)

POWER TO THE PARENTS

Join us on April 16, 2019 at 8:30 AM in the all-purpose room to discuss how to have difficult but necessary discussions with your children.  Topics will include: alcohol, drugs, sex, bullying, and vaping.  The discussion will be facilitated by our own Jennifer Farmer, LCSW.

FASHION SHOW VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are in need of a few parents to help solicit donations from local businesses for our fall Fashion Show.  You will be provided with a short list of businesses and all of the paperwork explaining the event.  This is a great opportunity to help with our annual fundraiser.  You may work at your own convenience based on your availability.  If interested, please contact Christineolivo1@gmail.com.

SUMMER SCIENCE CAMP

HOSPITALITY HELP NEEDED – ENRICHMENT DAY 5/10

Assumption Enrichment Day will be held on Friday, May 10th.  The Hospitality Committee provides breakfast/lunch for all of the volunteers as well as the teachers. In keeping with the theme of this year’s Enrichment Day, we will be serving different foods from around the world.  We hope you can help with this special day by contributing an item from the attached list (foods from different countries are encouraged).

MIXED BAG FUNDRAISER 

MIXED BAG DESIGNS is back by popular demand for a fundraiser supporting  the 7th grade as they fundraise to offset costs of next year’s graduation.  As with any school fundraiser, there is no pressure to purchase.  Mixed Bag offers super fun products for home and on-the-go, including eco-friendly bags, everyday totes and great organizational items, all at reasonable prices.  Packets go home with youngest child this week. CLAY STUDIO – SPRING SESSION # 2

5 Mondays – 2:30-3:30
(April 15, 29 and May 6, 13, 20)
Come spend Monday after-school at Assumption creating one-of-a-kind objects working in clay. Students will learn to use simple tools and traditional hand-building techniques as well as ways to impress texture into the clay. They will also strengthen their color and design skills as we glaze our pieces.
Please return this form along with your check $65, for Peggy Davo, to the main office by Thursday, April 11th. All supplies are included and firing will be done in her studio. A portion of your check goes to the school. Thanks!

ALTAR SERVER TRAINING

Assumption Church will be conducting Altar Server training sessions for boys and girls in the fourth grade and up on Tuesday, March 12, and Tuesday March 19, from 4-5 p.m.  You need only attend one session.  If you are in the fourth grade or older, and would like to become an Altar Server at Assumption, please sign up by emailing Linda.macios@assumptionparish.org, or by calling the parish office at 973-539-2141.
