You should receive a phone call, email (you may need to check your spam folder), and text reminding you about back to school night. PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL OF OUR NEIGHBORS DURING DROP OFF AND ESPECIALLY AT PICK UP. Drive with caution and adhere to the speed limit. Do not park in front of driveways or in no parking zones. We have been receiving a number of complaints and we want to keep our neighbors happy!
Bus: If your child is on the bus and plans to get off at a different stop, you must send a note to school to be approved by Sister Merris first before your child gets on the afternoon bus. They may only ride their own bus. Students cannot get on a different bus other than what they have been assigned. We must do this for safety reasons.
Morning Drop Off: Pull all the way up to the end of the driveway and make sure only your child gets out of the passenger side of the car and
Afternoon Dismissal: Students in kindergarten through second grades and their siblings who are car riders are dismissed from the back parking lot. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to dismissal.
Reminder: If your child will be late or absent, please email attendance@assumptionnj.org and your child’s teacher.
Also, please do not send changes to dismissal to the attendance email. Email your child’s teacher by 12:30 p.m. or call the main office after that – 973-538-0590.
ASSUMPTION CHILDREN’S CHOIR
Assumption Children’s Choir begins on October 11. All boys and girls in grades 3 through 8 who are either in our parish school or Faith Formation program are invited to join the children’s choir. Rehearsals will take place on Wednesday afternoon from 4:00 – 4:45 p.m. The choir will sing approximately once a month at a scheduled weekend Mass. The choir may also take part in a children’s choir festival (Pueri Cantores) in New York City on Saturday, March 18th. More information to follow. Please sign up on the parish website www.assumptionparish.org or contact Paul Kusler our Director of Music for more information. Parents are encouraged to help with rehearsals and performances.

NOTE FROM THE NURSE’S OFFICE:
To all PreK3 and PreK4 parents: All Preschool students are required to receive their annual flu vaccine before Christmas break. Please submit a copy of your child’s immunization record to the school nurses as soon as possible.
To Parents of 6th Graders: All 6th grade students are required to receive the Meningitis/TDap vaccinations. If you have not already done so, please submit an updated copy of your child’s immunization record by Friday, October 13th. If they have not yet received these vaccines, please make an appointment as soon as possible and email the school nurses with the date of the upcoming appointment.

Please send your name and email address to Phyllis DeChiaro in the school office at pdechiaro@assumptionnj.org. She will provide you with next steps to register with Virtus, as required by the Diocese of Paterson.
Asbestos Management Plan – Our school contains small amounts of materials which contain asbestos. These materials were commonly used in buildings at the time the school was built. The school is required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act regulations to maintain an Asbestos Management Plan. The EPA regulations and our Asbestos Management Plan are designed to ensure the safety and health of our students, teachers, and staff.
